South Korea's News Sentiment Index Turns Downward From First-Half Peak, Signaling Economic Growth Inflection Point

According to IBK Investment & Securities economist Jung Yong-taek on July 16, South Korea's news sentiment index released by the Bank of Korea has turned downward from its first-half peak, signaling an approaching inflection point in economic growth expectations. Jung noted that recent market noise may signal preparations for an economic inflection point in the second half. He pointed out that while the news sentiment index is trending downward, the leading economic index is showing steep gains, suggesting the leading index has either passed its peak or will reach an inflection point soon.
