SpaceX Expands Role in Golden Dome Defense Project, Partners with Anduril and Palantir on Command and Control Software

Gate News message, April 23 — SpaceX is expanding its role beyond satellite hardware into command and control systems for the Golden Dome missile defense project, working alongside Anduril, Palantir, Aalyria and other defense firms to develop software that links separate military systems.

Led by General Michael Guetlein, the consortium has already conducted a live demonstration. The system is designed to combine data from multiple sources, enable rapid decision-making, and support an in-orbit test of space-based interceptors (weapons designed to destroy incoming missiles) scheduled for 2027.

The Golden Dome initiative operates within SHIELD, a US$151 billion contracting framework running through 2035 that can include approximately 2,100 companies. The broader program carries a long-term estimate of US$185 billion. A Pentagon official confirmed the software integration is a key but unproven component of the overall effort.
