Sri Lanka's Dengue Cases Reach 47,530 With 1,069 New Cases on June 21 as Virus Mutates

According to Sri Lankan media, as of June 23, the country's dengue cases this year have reached 47,530 with 29 deaths. Single-day new cases surged to 1,069 on June 21. Sri Lanka's deputy health minister previously stated that a recent spike in cases is partly due to viral strain mutations, with the current strain showing stronger transmissibility than previously detected strains. The surge has significantly increased hospital admissions, placing substantial pressure on the healthcare system.
