Supertanker Owner Offers Six-Month Bonus to Crew for Hormuz Strait Voyage

According to Bloomberg, Sinokor Group, the world's largest supertanker owner, offered crew members a bonus equivalent to six months' salary to complete a voyage from Saudi Arabia or Iraq to Oman Bay this week. The round-trip journey through the Hormuz Strait requires approximately one month. The bonus places crew members at the center of a risk-reward decision: accept substantial compensation or face potential dangers in one of the world's most volatile shipping corridors. A commercial vessel was attacked again on Monday. According to the United Nations shipping authority, since late February, at least 59 commercial ships have been attacked in the Persian Gulf and surrounding waters, with 17 seafarers killed.
