Taiwan Rare Earth Delegation Plans October U.S. Tour to Achieve 50% Self-Supply Target by 2031

According to Taiwan's Economic Minister Gong Mingxin, the nation's rare earth delegation is set to depart in October to assess rare earth mining resources in California and Colorado. The mission aims to establish a database of local mineral deposits and explore partnerships with mining companies. Taiwan targets achieving 50% self-sufficient production of rare earth supplies—totaling 2,000 metric tons annually—by 2031 to reduce reliance on Chinese sources. The government is also engaging with Australia and Canada to establish diversified rare earth supply chains.
