Tongcheng Travel Reports 18-35 Year-Olds Now Account for 53.4% of China's Wellness Tourism Market

According to a report released by Tongcheng Travel and Wuzhishan on July 21, domestic wellness tourism orders grew 10.4% year-over-year, with travelers aged 18-35 now accounting for 53.4% of the market—surpassing the traditional silver-haired demographic. The data, based on Tongcheng Travel's platform metrics, shows wellness tourists make an average of 2.3 trips per year, indicating sustained demand shifts from therapeutic treatments to lifestyle-oriented wellness experiences.

The young demographic's preference for lighter wellness experiences—including camping, farm activities, and hot spring therapies—reflects a broader market transition toward eco-tourism destinations. Forest, mountain, and rainforest wellness zones are becoming increasingly popular, while heritage sites and temples offering cultural immersion complement the market's wellness offerings.
