UK Energy Price Cap Rises from July 1, Pushing 13.5M Households Into Fuel Poverty

According to the End Fuel Poverty Coalition, from July 1, the UK household energy price cap has increased, pushing 13.5 million households to spend more than 10% of their income on energy bills. An additional 5.5 million homes could spend around 20% of their income on energy costs. The typical annual household energy bill will rise by more than £220 to £1,862. Electricity unit rates will climb from 24.67 pence to 26.11 pence per kilowatt-hour for direct debit customers, while gas rates will increase from 5.74 pence to 7.33 pence per kilowatt-hour.
