U.S. Department of Defense Invests $25 Million in ReElement to Expand Domestic Rare Earth Refining on Tuesday

According to foreign reports, the U.S. Department of Defense announced on Tuesday that it is investing $25 million in ReElement Technologies to expand domestic rare earth refining capacity and reduce American reliance on Chinese rare earth processing. The funds will support equipment procurement and installation at ReElement's commercial facility in Marion, Indiana, employing advanced recycling technology to recover magnets and refine critical materials including rare earths, germanium, and gallium. These materials supply high-performance magnets essential for military equipment such as fighter jets, missiles, and submarines, while also serving semiconductor, electric vehicle, energy, and advanced electronics industries.
