U.S. Faces 100GW Power Shortfall by 2030 as Data Center Demand Surges

According to Bank of America's analysis reported by Yahoo Finance on July 9, the U.S. is projected to face a roughly 100-gigawatt power generation shortfall between 2026 and 2030. BofA estimates electricity demand will reach 230 gigawatts, but power generators can only supply 93 gigawatts. The surge is driven by rapid data center construction, as U.S. electricity demand growth is expected to accelerate fivefold over the next decade compared to the previous 10 years, when annual growth remained below 1 percent.
