According to the U.S. government, on June 26, Anthropic was permitted to grant access to its Claude Mythos 5 artificial intelligence model to over 100 "trusted partners," including numerous Fortune 500 enterprises. U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick stated in a letter to Anthropic that the company had made "significant progress" in addressing regulated model risks since June 12, resolving the dispute that led to Anthropic halting all use of its advanced Mythos 5 and Fable 5 models following government export control orders.
Under the new agreement, approved enterprises and their foreign employees, along with Anthropic's foreign staff, may now use Claude Mythos 5 without requiring export licenses, though unapproved companies remain restricted. Lutnick emphasized the effort to "ensure America maintains global AI leadership while safeguarding national security."
