According to MarketWatch, Wall Street remains deeply divided on whether the three-year AI investment boom represents a bubble and how long the rally can sustain. BCA Research economists Peter Berezin and Arthur Budaghyan argue the U.S. stock market faces a corporate earnings bubble risk, with the S&P 500 trading at a 27x price-to-earnings ratio if adjusted to 2019 profit margins—exceeding the 26.5x valuation at the March 2000 tech peak. They warn massive AI capital spending by large tech firms is eroding free cash flow, with strong earnings gains not matched by corresponding cash inflows.

Countering this view, BCA Research portfolio strategists Juan Correa and Noah Weisberger contend the AI computing market faces undersupply, not oversupply, with unfulfilled cloud services orders rising $750 billion in recent quarters. They argue AI capital expenditure returns are underestimated, and large cloud providers' valuations are near decade lows despite improving profitability. On Monday, the S&P 500 fell 0.2%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.6%, and the Nasdaq closed flat.
