White House Not Ruling Out Further Action Against Open-Source AI Models

According to a White House official on Tuesday, the Trump administration has not ruled out taking further administrative action against open-source artificial intelligence models. The statement comes after a voluntary review mechanism for AI models was established through an executive order signed by Trump last month. The National Cyber Director Sean Kalinowski noted on July 2 that the order includes open-source scanning and coordination mechanisms. "If we don't protect and strengthen our open-source ecosystem, we cannot achieve the President's vision," he said.
