WTI Crude Oil Surges 163,672 Contracts on July 7 as CME Volume and Open Interest Rise

According to CME data, on July 7, WTI crude oil trading volume and open interest both surged, with volume increasing 163,672 contracts and open interest rising 4,635 contracts compared to the prior trading day. Brent crude oil trading activity also picked up, with volume rising 24,329 contracts, though open interest declined 4,351 contracts.

Other commodities showed mixed signals. Gold and copper saw declining trading volumes but rising open interest participation. Silver and natural gas cooled on both fronts, with silver volume dropping 10,685 contracts and natural gas volume down 169,193 contracts.
