Apple Seeks Trump Administration Approval to Purchase Chips from China's Changxin Storage

According to Financial Times, Apple is lobbying the Trump administration to secure approval for purchasing memory chips from Chinese manufacturer Changxin Storage (CXMT) as of June 27. The company has been in discussions with the U.S. Commerce Department and White House officials for over a month, aiming to obtain purchase permits.

Changxin Storage currently faces U.S. export restrictions and is expected to be added to the Commerce Department's Entity List. Apple raised iPad and MacBook prices this week, citing rising memory and storage chip costs driven by AI data center investments.
