Aptos Move VM Flaw Could Have Exposed $70B in Assets, White Hat Fixes Vulnerability in February

APT-1.66%
According to ChainCatcher, citing Coindesk, security firm Hexens discovered a critical vulnerability in Aptos blockchain's Move virtual machine in late February. The flaw, which involved type confusion due to cached data expiration, could have exposed approximately $70 billion in digital assets including stablecoins and cross-chain bridges to systemic risk. Researchers simulated the attack with over 90% success rate using a $3,000 server setup without requiring special privileges. The Aptos team patched the vulnerability immediately upon discovery, with no funds lost.
