Brazil Finance Minister States Government Credit Measures Won't Weaken Monetary Policy

According to Jin10 data, Brazil's Finance Minister Guido Mantega stated on July 5 that the credit measures introduced by President Luiz Inácio Lula's government will not weaken monetary policy. Mantega said the measures represent targeted sectoral support and did not impede the Brazilian Central Bank from implementing larger rate cuts in its recent monetary policy meeting. The government also launched a new credit and debt restructuring plan to support informal workers.
