China's Transport Ministry Activates Typhoon Level-4 Response as Typhoon Bavi Strengthens to Super Typhoon Status on July 8

According to China's Central Meteorological Administration and the Ministry of Transport, the ministry activated a Level-4 typhoon defense response on July 8 at 9 a.m. Typhoon Bavi, classified as a super typhoon, was located approximately 1,650 kilometers east-southeast of Keelung, Taiwan, as of 5 a.m. on July 8, with maximum sustained winds of 17 Beaufort scale (60 meters per second) and a central pressure of 920 hectopascals. The typhoon is expected to move westward at 20-25 kilometers per hour, gradually shifting to a northwest direction toward the waters east of Taiwan.
