ECB Deposit Rate Forecast Delayed to Mid-2029 at 3%, Up From Current 2.25%

According to Jin10 data, analyst Holger Schmiding of Berenberg Bank said on June 22 that the European Central Bank's deposit rate is now expected to reach 3% in mid-2029, up from the current level of 2.25%. The bank previously predicted this rate level would be achieved by 2028. As US-Iran interim agreements lower energy costs, eurozone inflation may decline below 2% in early 2027, potentially delaying the ECB's rate hikes until late 2028.
