Ethereum Foundation Cuts Budget by 40%, Transitions to Long-Term Endowment Model by 2030

ETH-5.64%
According to Vitalik Buterin, the Ethereum Foundation will reduce its budget by approximately 40% this year and shift toward a long-term endowment model. The foundation plans to lower annual spending from about 15% of remaining funds to 5% by 2030. To support this transition, the EF will adjust its multi-client approach, increase reliance on AI-assisted formal verification, and redirect its Privacy and Scaling Exploration team to focus on zero-knowledge proof development. Additionally, Devcon will reduce its scale and losses, while large-scale projects beyond Ethereum itself will be curtailed.
