According to Forbes, Protect Progress, a Democratic PAC backed by Coinbase, Ripple, and Andreessen Horowitz under the Fairshake network, invested over $14 million in 2026 Democratic primaries across key districts. The PAC invested $4.9 million in Maryland candidate Adrian Boafo, spent over $5 million in Texas to help Christian Menefee defeat anti-crypto incumbent Al Green, and invested approximately $4 million in Georgia to support Jasmine Clark.
The related campaign advertisements did not disclose the crypto industry backing. Journalist Joy Reid characterized the strategy as "Blackwashing"—directing crypto-backed funds into Black voter communities while obscuring the source of financing. Analysts noted the core logic focuses on supporting sympathetic candidates and opposing critics, rather than advancing race-based policy.
