Foreign Investors' Net Buying Days Correlated With KOSPI Gains 89.74% as of July 16

According to Korean Exchange data, on July 16, foreign investors' net buying days in South Korea's stock market correlated with KOSPI gains 89.74% of the time. Among 132 trading days from January 2 to July 16, 2026, foreign investors achieved net purchases on only 39 days, with 35 of those days seeing KOSPI gains. Analysts attributed this to concentrated foreign buying in large-cap index stocks like Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, while domestic institutional investors lack sufficient capital to absorb large-scale foreign sell-offs, effectively making foreign investor flows the primary price driver in the market.
