Fortinet Adopts Intel Foundry Services for Next-Gen SP6 Security Chip on July 21

According to Intel, on July 21, security company Fortinet will use Intel Foundry Services to produce its next-generation SP6 security chip using Intel 4 process technology. This is the first named foundry customer disclosed under CEO Chen Li-wu, who took office in March 2025, marking a milestone for Intel's struggle to secure marquee clients for its foundry division.

The SP6 chip will be produced on Intel 4, a mature process suitable for application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) used in networking equipment—less advanced than Intel's cutting-edge 18A and 14A nodes, but strategically important as Intel continues seeking major customers for its most advanced processes.
