According to a Politico interview on July 23, Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon expressed active support for the CLARITY Act, a proposed U.S. digital asset regulation law. Solomon stated the legislation would "establish a market structure and advance innovation," emphasizing it creates "a fair competitive playing field that enhances market stability and enables appropriate market development," though acknowledging the bill is imperfect with some contentious provisions.
Solomon's backing contrasts with opposition from other major banks, including JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, who criticized provisions allowing stablecoin reward programs without applying equivalent banking regulations. Democratic senators also remain opposed, with seven senators issuing a joint statement calling the bill "still insufficient." The CLARITY Act faces a potential Senate vote as early as next week.
