Hana Securities Delays Prime Brokerage Services Market Entry Amid Rising Talent Costs

According to Yonhap Infomax on July 24, Hana Securities' planned entry into Prime Brokerage Services (PBS) market faces delays due to escalating talent acquisition costs and intensified competition. The Seoul-based securities firm had been exploring a full PBS market launch but encountered high barriers: veteran talent from six leading PBS operators commands premium salaries, while competitor Meritz Securities struggles with profitability in the space despite earlier entry. Hana Securities, though qualified for PBS operations and already offering related services including repo and swap transactions, is reassessing the business case, according to industry sources.
