Iran Claims Thwarted U.S. Strike on Sirik, Warns of 'Harsh Response' Saturday

According to Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps, on Saturday, June 27, the military successfully repelled a U.S. strike on the Sirik area in southern Iran and forced American forces to withdraw. The statement warned that any new U.S. provocations would receive a 'swift and decisive' response, marking the first public military confrontation between the two countries since signing a ceasefire memorandum.

The U.S. Central Command confirmed it conducted air strikes on June 26 targeting Iranian missile and drone storage facilities and coastal radar stations, citing an attack on a Evergreen container vessel, Ever Libra, in the Strait of Hormuz the previous day. Oil prices showed restraint following the exchange, with WTI crude futures declining less than 3% and Brent crude falling around 3%.
