Iran Seeks Control Over Submarine Internet Cables in Strait of Hormuz on May 10

According to Farsnews, Iran is pushing to implement licensing, fees, and legal jurisdiction over foreign submarine cable operators in the Strait of Hormuz on May 10. The cables carry significant data traffic between Europe, the Gulf region, and Asia. Iran also requires all management and maintenance work to be handled exclusively by domestic companies. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps previously warned of potential attacks on submarine cable infrastructure.
