Iran Unfreezes $12 Billion in Assets as US Negotiations Framework Advances, June 23

According to Jin10 citing Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Garibabadie, Iran and the US agreed on a negotiation framework on June 23. Future talks will be conducted under a high-level committee comprising Iran's parliament speaker and foreign minister, the US vice president, and the prime ministers of Pakistan and Qatar. Four working groups have been established to handle sanctions relief, nuclear issues, reconstruction and economic development, and monitoring and enforcement.

Garibabadie confirmed that $12 billion in frozen Iranian assets will be unfrozen immediately, divided into two tranches of $6 billion each, and the execution phase has commenced. The US has also issued general licenses for sales of Iranian oil, petrochemical products, and related services.
