Japan's House of Councillors Approves Space Defense Reorganization on July 9; Military Investment Surges 10-Fold

According to China's Defense Ministry spokesperson Colonel Chen Xi on July 9, Japan's House of Councillors recently approved amendments to the Defense Ministry Organization Act, renaming the Air Self-Defense Force to the "Aerospace Self-Defense Force" and establishing a "Space Operations Group."

The spokesperson noted that Japan's space-related military spending has increased tenfold in the past five years, with combat personnel expanding over thirtyfold, characterizing these measures as accelerating the weaponization and militarization of space.
