Kalshi and Polymarket Open Interest Falls 20% Ahead of World Cup Final

According to The Block, on July 21, Kalshi and Polymarket's combined open interest fell 20% from a $20 billion peak in early July to approximately $15 billion. Kalshi's sports trading volume dropped from a $90 billion peak on the week of July 5 to $40 billion, while Polymarket fell from $23 billion to $7.4 billion. Data from DeFiOasis showed that about two-thirds of the 194,000 addresses that traded Polymarket's World Cup winner market incurred losses, with most losses below $100.
