According to The Fact, South Korea's KOSPI index plunged 4.46% to close at 6,516.27 on July 20, while the KOSDAQ fell 5.33% to 749.64. The KOSDAQ triggered a sell-side circuit breaker at 10:52 a.m., followed by the KOSPI at 11:21 a.m., when the KOSPI 200 futures index dropped 5.13%.
Top 10 market-cap stocks declined across the board, including Samsung Electronics (-4.31%), SK Hynix (-4.23%), Hyundai Motor (-6.12%), Samsung Life Insurance (-8.91%), and KB Financial (-6.79%). Institutional investors sold 921.8 billion won in KOSPI-listed shares, while foreign and individual investors purchased 516.1 billion won and 351 billion won, respectively.
