LME copper rose 0.5% to $13,345.50 per ton today, though it dipped to $13,083 intraday, with the week tracking a decline of approximately 1.8%—the worst weekly performance since May 1. LME aluminum climbed 0.8% to $3,189 per ton, supported by the European Union's plan to impose a 15% export tax starting September, according to the Financial Times. Both LME copper and Shanghai copper stocks fell to multi-month lows, with LME inventory dropping to 336,475 tons and Shanghai copper stockpile declining 5.7% week-on-week to 135,732 tons.
