LX International Projects Long-term Carbon Costs Up to 539 Billion Won Annually Under APS Scenario

According to Yonhap News, LX International on July 5 released climate scenario analysis in its sustainability report, projecting carbon costs under three emissions reduction pathways. Under the APS (Announced Pledges Scenario) scenario, long-term carbon costs could reach an average of 539 billion won annually from 2032-2050, compared to 306 billion won under current policies (STEPS). The company signaled a strategic shift toward investing in new businesses and equipment conversion rather than purchasing emissions credits, as regulatory costs would directly compress margins on existing coal-dependent operations.
