Meta Accelerates Data Center Purchases to 5GW+ in H1 2026, Negotiates with Anthropic for Claude Access

According to SemiAnalysis, Meta accelerated data center capacity purchases by over 5GW in the first half of 2026, defying market concerns about AI infrastructure oversupply. The company's infrastructure spending is expected to continue accelerating, not slow down.

SemiAnalysis reported that Meta is in final negotiations with Anthropic to gain access to private instances of Claude. If completed, the deal signals Meta's intention to build its own AI model service platform, similar to AWS Bedrock or Microsoft Foundry, potentially bundling Claude internally while packaging its own models as external services for customers.
