China's Solar Inverter Leader Falls 13% as U.S. Drafts Foreign Import Ban

According to Reuters, U.S. researchers today (July 3) are drafting restrictions on foreign-made solar inverters, primarily targeting Chinese manufacturers, citing grid security concerns. Chinese solar inverter giant Sungrow Power Electronics tumbled 13%, with peers Solis, GoodWe, and Hopewind also declining. The move, led by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission, covers new models and could be announced this year. Taiwan-based inverter manufacturers Ginlong, Murata PSU, Delta Electronics, and Arise Electronics stand to gain from potential order shifts, as they compete in markets where U.S. buyers prioritize domestic or allied suppliers.
