Samsung Plans New DRAM Factory in Giheung with 100k Monthly Wafer Capacity, Investment in Tens of Trillions Won

According to Citrini analyst jukan, Samsung Electronics plans to build a new DRAM wafer fabrication plant at its Giheung campus by converting the original site intended for a research center. The facility is expected to produce approximately 100,000 wafers monthly, with total investment reaching tens of trillions of Korean won. Samsung has assembled an internal team to advance the project, which may launch initial construction as early as Q3 2026. The company also plans next-generation semiconductor clusters in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, targeting initial production in early 2029.
