Samsung, SK Hynix Plan $590B Chip Complex as South Korea Targets Doubling DRAM Output

Samsung, SK Hynix, and the South Korean government announced Monday plans to invest $590 billion to build four chipmaking plants, aiming to double the country's DRAM production capacity within five years. Samsung and SK Hynix will each construct two plants for 800 trillion won ($518 billion), as part of the government's broader semiconductor initiative.

Shares of both companies recovered losses from earlier trading, though the DRAM memory ETF fell 1.4% in U.S. premarket trading. Sentiment for DRAM on Stocktwits remained extremely bullish.
