SEC Unveils 2026 Agenda Prioritizing Crypto Custody, Tokenized Securities, and IPO Reforms

According to SEC Chairman Paul Atkins, the agency released its 2026 Regulatory Agenda on July 7, placing crypto assets, tokenized securities, and capital formation at the center of its rulemaking priorities. The agenda aims to clarify rules for crypto custody and onchain trading of tokenized securities while reducing IPO compliance burdens to reverse the decline of public companies. Atkins stated the SEC will "embrace innovation to bring more products onshore, creating clear rules of the road for capital raising with crypto assets." The agenda also includes proposals to expand retail investor participation in private markets while maintaining investor protection safeguards.
