Semiconductors Account for Over 90% of KOSPI Operating Profit Growth in 2026, Survey Shows

According to a survey by Chosun Biz of research heads from 8 major Korean securities firms, semiconductors accounted for over 90% of KOSPI operating profit growth in 2026. Despite recent market volatility driven by AI investment concerns and foreign fund outflows, research analysts maintain that the semiconductor sector's long-term growth story remains intact. Experts noted that recent market adjustments reflect short-term supply and demand pressures rather than deteriorating fundamentals, and as long as U.S. hyperscale companies continue expanding capital expenditures on AI infrastructure, semiconductor stocks are expected to maintain their leadership position in the second half of the year.
