South Korea Secures 35,000 Advanced GPUs, Domestic AI Models Enter World's Top 3 on July 16

According to Yonhapinfomax, South Korea's Deputy Prime Minister Bae Kyung-hoon announced on July 16 that the government has secured 35,000 NVIDIA B200-grade GPUs to strengthen AI and advanced technology capabilities. The secured GPUs are being distributed to government AI projects and government-funded research institutes, with plans to expand to 50,000 units by 2028 through the construction of an AI computing center in Haenam. Bae also stated that domestic AI models have reached world's top three ranking level, with five South Korean AI models recognized by international organizations in December 2025, and targeted to challenge top two positions by August 2026.
