According to MacRumors, three iOS users sued Apple in a California federal court after losing approximately $1.8 million in Bitcoin from downloading counterfeit Sparrow Wallet apps from the App Store between May and August 2025. The lawsuit alleges that Apple failed to take action even after victims reported the fraudulent apps, and multiple fake Sparrow applications remain listed on the App Store.

Sparrow Wallet developer Craig Raw has publicly criticized Apple's slow response in removing the counterfeit versions, stating that despite his reports, fake apps targeting his users continue to proliferate on the platform.
