Trump Criticizes New York Data Center Moratorium, Demands Immediate Policy Reversal

According to Xinhua Finance, President Donald Trump on Wednesday, July 16, criticized New York Governor Kathy Hochul's newly enacted data center moratorium, calling for an "immediate" policy shift. The executive order, signed by Hochul on Tuesday, prohibits new data centers with power consumption of 50 megawatts or more for up to one year. Trump stated on Truth Social that data centers are "among the largest drivers of future jobs" and serve as "money-printing machines" for states. Hochul responded on X, stating: "We hit pause because communities powering AI should share in its success. This may be a new concept in Washington. We call it doing our job."
