According to the UK Maritime Trade Operations, on July 1, two incidents involving vessels occurred in waters south of Balhaf, Yemen. In the first incident, four armed individuals in a small boat illegally boarded a merchant vessel, damaging the bridge and cabin areas. The ship's crew retreated to a safe room and remained secure; the small boat subsequently left the vessel but remained in the vicinity.
In the second incident, approximately 85 nautical miles south of Balhaf, a small boat approached an oil tanker before turning south and departing. The tanker's crew was unharmed and the vessel continued its voyage.
