Two Vessel Security Incidents Reported Off Yemen on July 1, Including Armed Boarding

According to the UK Maritime Trade Operations, on July 1, two incidents involving vessels occurred in waters south of Balhaf, Yemen. In the first incident, four armed individuals in a small boat illegally boarded a merchant vessel, damaging the bridge and cabin areas. The ship's crew retreated to a safe room and remained secure; the small boat subsequently left the vessel but remained in the vicinity.

In the second incident, approximately 85 nautical miles south of Balhaf, a small boat approached an oil tanker before turning south and departing. The tanker's crew was unharmed and the vessel continued its voyage.
