UN Approves First Global Autonomous Driving Regulation on June 24

According to the United Nations World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations (WP.29), the global Automated Driving System (ADS) technical regulation was approved during the 199th session on June 24. Co-led by China, the European Union, United Kingdom, United States, Canada, and Japan, this marks the first international technical standard for autonomous vehicles. The regulation is expected to take mandatory effect in the EU by the end of 2026.
