U.S. Space Force Triples NSSL Phase 3 Contract to $17 Billion for Rocket Launches

The U.S. Space Force announced on Friday it was tripling the maximum value of its National Security Space Launch (NSSL) Phase 3 contract from $5.6 billion to $17 billion to meet rising demand for military satellite launches. The expansion covers Lane 1 missions, which are open to commercial launch providers including SpaceX, Blue Origin, ULA, Rocket Lab, Stoke Space, Relativity Space, and Impulse Space, without requiring extensive military certification. Lane 2 strategic missions, reserved for larger government spy satellites and radiation-hardened communications systems, remain limited to SpaceX's Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy, and ULA's Vulcan rocket.
