U.S. Treasury Launches Trump Account for Minors with $1,000 Seed Funding, Opens Registration July 4

According to PANews, on June 26, the U.S. Treasury launched Trump Account, a tax-deferred retirement account designed for minors. The Treasury will deposit $1,000 seed funding into each account for newborns born between 2025 and 2028. Parents, relatives, employers, and account holders can contribute up to $5,000 annually thereafter, with employers able to add an additional $2,500 per child per year. Account assets will be invested primarily in low-cost U.S. equity index funds and automatically convert to personal retirement accounts at age 18. Registration opens July 4.
