JPN225-2.47%
Japan's stock market declined today as semiconductor and AI-related shares dropped sharply. According to Yomiuri Infomax, the Nikkei 225 index fell 1,315 points (-1.92%) to close at 67,242.73, while the TOPIX index declined 28.59 points (-0.71%) to 4,007.49. The selloff was triggered by South Korea's KOSPI index plunging over 8%, prompting Japanese investors to rotate funds into defensive bank stocks. Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, and Mizuho Financial Group each gained over 1% as capital flowed away from chip-related holdings.
