KOSPI's Correlation With Nasdaq-100 Hits 0.95, Emerging as Key AI Investment Gauge

According to Evercore ISI's report published July 21 via Business Insider, the KOSPI has become a critical barometer for global investors tracking artificial intelligence investment trends, with its correlation to the Nasdaq-100 index reaching 0.95. The Korean stock market's influence over U.S. equities has intensified as investors view KOSPI as a proxy indicator for AI sentiment, particularly given South Korea's semiconductor exposure and the sector's central role in AI supply chains.

Retail investors' leveraged ETF investments tied to Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix have amplified market volatility, according to Charles Schwab's Michele Gibney. The KOSPI has fallen 18% over the past month but remains up 113% over the past year and 60% year-to-date.
