Kraken Wins $22 Million Arbitration Against Auditor Mazars on Tuesday

According to a blog post on Tuesday, Kraken's parent company Payward won a $22 million arbitration award against auditor Mazars USA, which abruptly abandoned a nearly completed audit during Operation Choke Point 2.0 in 2022. Mazars withdrew due to uncertainty around regulatory pressure on crypto firms, including the SEC's enforcement actions against Kraken, though the auditor confirmed in writing it had no disagreements with Payward's management or findings of fraud. The SEC later dropped its complaint against Kraken following Gary Gensler's departure.
