Samsung Establishes BEOL Process Organization for HBM4 at Pyeongtaek Facility

According to Odaily, Samsung Electronics established a BEOL process organization within its memory division's etching technology team this month at its Pyeongtaek facility, initially staffed with approximately 30 senior engineers. The organization will focus on BEOL process technology for high-value memory products such as HBM4, including workforce optimization and supply chain strengthening. HBM4 features 2,048 I/O connections, double the previous generation, requiring denser wiring and smaller line widths to meet increased signal transmission demands within limited chip areas.
