South Korea Pledges $3.16 Trillion Chipmaking and AI Investment Plan on July 13

According to Yonhap News, South Korea's ruling Democratic Party and government on Monday (July 13) pledged to boost support for the nation's $3.16 trillion chipmaking and AI investment plan announced last month. The "Three Super Projects" initiative targets semiconductor, embodied AI, and AI data center development through combined investments of 4,755 trillion won. Samsung Electronics will build two memory chip plants in Gwangju and South Jeolla Province, while SK Hynix will construct two additional fabrication facilities. The ruling party vowed to pass special legislation by year-end to relax regulations and accelerate the project implementation.
